17 m Motor Yacht — Hydraulic Steering System Revision

Problem
Heavy steering, a difference in response between the two stations and a suspected leak in the hydraulic circuit.
Work done
Checks on pump, cylinder, lines and connections; revision of leak points, oil renewal and bleeding the system.
Technical solution
The source was found by testing pump, cylinder, valves and lines separately; the revision was carried out across the whole system.
Result
Handed over after a full lock-to-lock function test and a response check at both stations.

06 · Watermaker systems

Watermaker — Winterization & Commissioning

Vessel
Motor yacht / sailing yacht
Problem
Membrane protection for a unit standing idle off-season; recommissioning at the start of the season.
Work done
Pre-filter and carbon filter checks, preservation (pickling) to the manufacturer’s procedure, flushing and commissioning at season start.
Technical solution
Chemical and contact time were set according to unit capacity and the manufacturer’s instructions.
Result
Handed over after checking pressure, flow and product water (TDS) values.

Windlass — Motor & Gearbox Renewal

Problem
The windlass struggling, noise and loss of performance under load.
Work done
Separate checks of motor and gearbox, removal, motor and gearbox renewal, shaft, bearing and gypsy checks.
Technical solution
Motor and gearbox were assessed together; mechanical connections and power supply were checked.
Result
Handed over after a function test under load.

Bilge System — Pump & Automatic Control Upgrade

Problem
A bilge pump not starting automatically and missing alarm infrastructure.
Work done
Pump selection and installation, level sensor / float switch, check valve and discharge line revision, high-water alarm installation.
Technical solution
Automatic, manual and alarm functions were set up as separate layers.
Result
Handed over after automatic start, manual override and alarm tests.

Loss of power, overheating and irregular operation in the hydraulic system.
Work done
Checks on the motor-pump group, valve block, filters and hoses; motor and system revision, oil and filter renewal.
Technical solution
Pressure, flow, oil condition and filtration were assessed together.
Result
Commissioned after pressure and function tests.
