06WATERMAKER SYSTEMS

With maintenance and service experience on more than 50 watermakers of different brands, capacities and system architectures, we focus not just on replacing parts but on correct operation, production performance and long-term reliability.

01Which problems do we solve?

  • Has fresh water output dropped?
  • Has the product water TDS / salinity gone up?
  • Is the unit not building pressure or showing alarms?
  • Is the high-pressure pump noisy or leaking?
  • Are the pre-filters clogging too quickly?
  • Has the unit been idle and needs recommissioning for the season?

We determine whether the problem lies in pre-filtration, the feed or high-pressure pump, the membrane, or the plumbing and connections — and bring the system back to correct performance.

02Scope of service

Watermaker systems

Installation, scheduled maintenance, filter and membrane checks, winterization, commissioning and performance monitoring.

  • New watermaker installation
  • Existing system inspection
  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Pre-filter replacement
  • Activated carbon filter check and replacement
  • Membrane check
  • Membrane flushing
  • Winterization / preservation / pickling
  • Start-of-season commissioning
  • Low- and high-pressure line checks
  • Feed pump check
  • High-pressure pump check
  • Flow and production performance check
  • TDS / product water quality check
  • Hose, connection and fitting checks
  • Leak check
  • Basic check of electrical and automation connections
  • Testing and post-service reporting

Winterization & preservation

  • Preservation chemical is prepared to suit the system capacity and the manufacturer’s procedure.
  • The system is circulated and left in the right condition for the off-season.
  • At the start of the new season the system is recommissioned, flushed and product water values are checked.

For watermakers that will stand idle for a long time, protecting the membranes is critical.

03How does the system work?

From sea water to fresh water.

  1. 01Sea water inlet
  2. 02Pre-filtration
  3. 03Feed pump
  4. 04High-pressure pump
  5. 05Membrane
  6. 06Product water

Concentrate is discharged overboard through the reject line. The goal is not just a running unit, but one working at the right pressure, the right flow and the right product water quality.

04Our service approach

“We don’t just change the filters and hand the unit back.”

We assess the watermaker as one system: sea water inlet → pre-filtration → feed pump → high-pressure pump → membrane → product water → reject line. At the end of each service, pressure, flow and product water values are checked and recorded.

05Service process

From survey
to service report.

Our goal is not just to get a system running again, but to hand it over correct and serviceable.

  1. 01

    Survey & system check

The unit, existing plumbing and operating conditions are inspected.

  2. 02

    Fault / maintenance diagnosis

Filters, pumps, membrane, pressure and connections are checked.

  3. 03

    Scope & quotation

Required maintenance, materials and service scope are defined.

  4. 04

    Implementation

Maintenance, repairs, filter replacement or winterization are carried out.

  5. 05

    Test & report

The system is run; pressure and product water performance are checked.

Ask a question
Why winterize a watermaker?

In a unit that will stand idle, sea water left in the membrane can lead to biological growth and fouling. Preservation (pickling) to the manufacturer’s procedure protects the membrane; at the start of the season the unit is flushed, product water is checked and it is recommissioned.

How often should pre-filters be changed?

It depends on running hours, sea water condition and the manufacturer’s recommendation. Filter pressure difference and output drop tell you; regular checks during the season are recommended.

Salty product water — does the membrane need replacing?

Not necessarily. Pressure, flow, pre-filters, connection and o-ring leaks and the measuring sensor are checked before deciding on a membrane replacement.
